Our Work

We are experts in medical knowledge management and health information technology. We help governments and healthcare providers design information systems that are functional and effective for healthcare providers and patients alike.

Our clients have included:

  • US Defense Health Agency (DHA) / Military Health System (MHS)

  • US Air Force

  • US Navy Bureau of Medicine

  • US Veterans Health Administration (VHA)

  • Chexout, LLC

Our Services

Artificial Intelligence

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) has taken the world by storm, enabling the use of computer algorithms to help support or perform tasks that in the past were the domain of the human brain. It embraces the development of machines that learn from experience by adjusting to feedback and new inputs.

While AI looks to provide a quantum leap in the capability of clinicians, administrators, researchers, and patients to improve healthcare, it also portends significant risk. For example, if clinicians and their patients are to rely on recommendations arising from AI systems, there must be trust at all life cycle stages of an AI system and its data, starting with the design of the system, through its development, implementation, and monitoring. In healthcare, this is critical, as lives may be impacted.

Medical Networks, LLC, has been an international leader in this area, facilitating the first-ever project in Health Level Sevn (HL7), an international Standards Development Organization, to promulgate guidance, recommendations and eventually develop standards for development and use of AI in healthcare.

System Interoperability

  • Interoperability is the ability for organizations to interconnect their data, communication, and networks. We help federal agencies and large organizations navigate the design of their health system interoperability so they are functional and efficient.

We use modern interoperability principles to shape tomorrow's new health information systems and interactions with other networks and have been a key participant in Health Level Seven (HL7) , a certified-International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Use Case and Functional Requirements Development

  • Clinicians and technology developers rarely speak the same language. Yet, without a shared understanding of need, it’s impossible for a successful health information system to be built.

Medical Networks, LLC are experts in bridging this gap. We speak the language of both healthcare providers and technology developers, and we support clinicians in articulating their needs and developing relevant scenarios and functional requirements which they need to support developers of an information system.

Knowledge Management

  • We understand many customers have a hard time synthesizing the "collective knowledge" that exists within their team, especially in a time when the amount of available knowledge is exploding. Medical Networks, LLC supports the documentation and management of your team’s expertise, transforming the "intrinsic knowledge" in our minds, into "extrinsic knowledge" filed in electronic documents, databases, and digital files.

Additionally, we embrace the “networking of people” and have led/facilitated Health IT projects teams comprised of disparate professionals (e.g. clinicians, administrators, developers) from government, academia, industry and volunteers.

Telehealth

  • Telehealth (TH) is the capability to provide health care from a distance, using a variety of communication alternatives and systems. It can be used to provide direct clinician-patient “virtual” visits (e.g. live videoconference), consultation between clinicians, home health monitoring, and mentoring/assisting in surgical procedures, among others.

Telehealth has been in existence for over 100 years, with one of the first instances of use being the connection between a surgeon in Seattle assisting, via a voice/signal apparatus, a physician in Ft. Seward, Haines, Alaska, performing an appendectomy.

More recently, and especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, TH has proven to be a safe and convenient care alternative for patients and clinicians .

Medical Networks, LLC has been at the forefront of Telehealth, with its founder having served as the first-ever Chief of Telemedicine and Advance Informatics for the US Air Force, and subsequently, the first Chief of Telehealth for the US Department of Defense.

Project Management

  • Organizations often need to adopt new information systems capabilities both efficiently and effectively. This requires proven project management processes for concept articulation, functional and technical requirements generation, design, development, testing, deployment, and legacy retirement.

Medical Networks, LLC are experts in instituting these processes and can ensure optimum management of your projects.
